Dear Barack: The extraordinary partnership of Barack Obama and Angela Merkel

oday, we know US President Barack Obama and German Chancellor Angela Merkel as two of the world’s most influential leaders, together at the center of some of the biggest controversies and most impressive advancements of our time. But while their friendship has been the subject of both scrutiny and admiration, few know the full story. Taking office at the height of the 2008 global recession, Obama was keenly aware of the fractured relationship between the US and Europe. And for her part, Merkel was suspicious of the charismatic newcomer who had captivated her country. Faced with the challenges of globalization, the two often clashed over policy, but—as the first Black president and first female chancellor—they shared a belief that democracy could uplift the world.

What if…? THE FANTASTIC MULTIVERSE OF Leonardo da Vinci – MYSTERIOUS MACHINES, CODES and DIGITAL ART: Dreams, fantasies and new works of art … manuscripts and works of Leonardo da Vinci

What if the Mona Lisa was a marble statue? What if Leonardo had carved David in place of Michelangelo? If “another Leonardo”, in another universe, had studied an alien dragonfly, how would his design of the flying machine have changed? A fantastic digital artistic journey, curious, strange and incomprehensible works, projects and machines. Hundreds of unpublished fantastic illustrations inspired by the history and manuscripts of Leonardo da Vinci, a tribute to Leonardo from the digital age. If there was the possibility of a multiverse, an infinite possibility of worlds to explore with the imagination, why not imagine the projects of other Leonardo da Vinci. This fantastic, irreverent and crazy game is also useful for understanding the real Leonardo. What was, for example, the Last Supper? Was “story” true? No, because, the scene painted by Leonardo represented an imaginary Jesus, not a historical one, in an invented environment, painted by the artist to create a new “visual story”. I hope these “visual stories” help stimulate the imagination and creativity of the viewer. Curiosity will also lead you to discover Leonardo’s real manuscripts and how much fascination they still represent for everyone.

Whispers and Wailings: Untold Stories Of Migrant Workers In The Middle East

The book “Whispers and Wailings” is based on eight years of research. The author, Prof. Khan Mosleh, has been in various countries in the Middle East since January 1, 2012, for employment and teaching. In this long journey, he has come in contact with thousands of Bangladeshi immigrant workers and heard the tragic history of their lives. Although the workers are termed ‘remittance fighters,’ they are neglected on their own country’s soil. In the Middle East, they are called ‘Miskin.’ These heroic workers sacrifice their happiness for 12 to 14 hours daily and seven days a week or some 29 days a month and bring smiles to the faces of the country and family. When the author came in contact with Hossein, a housemaid in a neighboring house, in 2016, he came to know the details of his daily life. After seeing Hossein up close and knowing his unknown life story, a latent desire arose in the author’s mind that these workers need to tell the unknown chapter to the world. He started recording different people’s words little by little, which continued until now. The book tells the migrant workers’ life stories and describes the Middle East’s geographical and social aspects to acquaint the readers.
