Through the Waters and the Wild

Greg Fields is the author of Through the Waters and the Wild, published by Koehler Books on January 15th, 2021 and winner of the 2022 Independent Press Award for Literary Fiction, the Literary Titan Award and the New York Book Award for Literary Fiction.. His new work builds on a growing reputation for lyrical, intense, introspective literary fiction inspired by the work of Niall Williams, Colm Toibin and the best of Pat Conroy. His previous novel, Arc of the Comet, an evocative examination of promise, potential and loss, was released in late 2017 and garnered multiple award nominations, including the Cabell First Novelist Prize and the Kindle Book of the Year in Literary Fiction.

Greg has won recognition for his written work in presenting the plight of marginalized young people through his tenure at the Global Fund for Children, and has had articles published in the Harvard International Review, as well as numerous periodicals, including The Washington Post and the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.

He has presented at numerous literary events, including the Central Coast Writers Conference, the Virginia Writers Conference, and has participated in many others, such as the Pat Conroy Literary Festival, the Twin Cities Literary Festival, and the Bay Area Book Fair. Through his previous work, he has also presented at symposia focusing on international development, including Stanford University’s Global Philanthropy Forum, The Conrad Hilton Humanitarian Award seminar, the Synergos Institute’s University for a Night at the United Nations, and the European Foundation Centre’s general assembly.

He and his wife Lynn live in Manassas, Virginia.
