Mary Dan Eades

Mary Dan Eades is a native Arkansan (born and raised in Hot Springs, AR) and retired medical doctor, who trained at the University of Arkansas, and who, with her husband, developed and operated a chain of urgent care family medicine clinics for many years. She is a New York Times best-selling author, having written or co-authored 14 non-fiction books on nutrition, health, and fitness, including the 63-week NY Times best-seller Protein Power (Bantam 1996) as well as multiple cookbooks on low-carb and sous vide cooking.

She is married to the physician, author, and blogger Michael Eades. The couple have three married sons and seven grandchildren. The Drs. Eades divide their time between Montecito, CA and Dallas, TX. Find out more about them at proteinpower.com.

Caddo Bend is the first fiction work for Dr. Eades and the first of a series of books that follows the life, loves, and medical adventures of Dr. Maggie McKinley in the small rural Arkansas town. An early draft of the novel, written in 1997, became a registered screenplay in 2003; the novel appeared for the first time in print in its current form in 2022.
