John Christmas was born in the United States in 1969. He was educated at Dartmouth College and Cornell University. His original career was in banking, first in the United States and later in Latvia. He was the whistleblower from Parex Bank of Latvia, the collapse of which triggered the Crisis in Latvia that began in 2008 and is still continuing now.
