This book was written to share the thoughts and feelings that arise in searching and encountering oneself. Clearer coherence between our values and actions leads to a state of inner peace, which, like in calm and mirrored waters, allows us to observe ourselves more deeply. I hope the reader can feel and visualize that slow and permanent discovery of who we truly are. That is what integrity is about.
For the last 30 years, I have lived in several countries and continents, working in environments of great cultural diversity, making insightful mistakes, and facing challenges that have caused the beginning of an awakening, although I am still dreaming. I have seen my four children grow up as citizens of the world, with values that I only recently discovered and with virtues that led me to reflection. In this book, I would like to share what has amazed me and what I have learned in a kind of humble extension of my life experiences.
Its content may appear far from the daily responsibilities and concerns that pertain to most. Indeed, to succeed, we need to be embedded in the social and economic system we have created to improve our wealth. Consequently, by delegating the drive of our growth to an institution, political structure, or even to a company, we may lack the connection with our inner truth. This estrangement turns us into an instrument of other people’s wills, losing the feeling and the purpose that gives meaning to our lives.
The change you and the world are waiting for to make a better present possible depends on the strength of the connection with your most profound meanings. Living with integrity is a proposal of a way of living. Being consistent, reflecting your feelings, having clarity about your course, knowing better yourself, spreading happiness, experiencing freedom. It is making value-based decisions, knowing that they lead to an ulterior purpose. Living with integrity is going back to the source, and a qualitative leap in the upward spiral of your evolution.
