Depression is a way-too-common disorder that, I have to admit, I have suffered from myself. However, I have discovered that there are certain behaviors that have helped me deal with this condition. My hope is that they will help you as well.
It’s estimated that 16 million adults in the United States experience at least one major depressive episode each year. It doesn’t matter what you call it: Depression, Adjustment Disorder, Bi-Polar, Being Unconsolably Sad, or simply Feeling Down. You just feel bad and are unable to cope.
I realized that there were some activities that made me feel better: A nice nap in the middle of the day; a meal that tasted really good; and chocolate. Chocolate always makes everything better.
I started making a list and eventually came up with 50 Strategies. That’s what this book is all about: 50 Strategies for activities to try to help you cope with your depression, make your life more bearable, and be able to get more accomplished.
The goal of this book is to help you deal with your depression. I know that when I feel good, I want to do stuff. And even if I have to force myself to do stuff, I usually feel better when I’ve accomplished a thing or two. These strategies work for me and I hope they work for you.
