W. Nikola-Lisa is professor emeritus of the School of Education at National-Louis University, where he taught in a graduate teacher education program. A long-time resident of Chicago, Mr. Nikola-Lisa is the author of over thirty books. His books for young readers include the award-winning Bein’ With You This Way and the ever-popular Shake Dem Halloween Bones. For the middle-grade reader, he’s the author of How We Are Smart and the semi-autobiographical novel Shark Man. For older readers, he’s written The Men Who Made the Yankees, an early history of the American League’s New York franchise, and From Lectern to Laboratory, an exploration of how developments in science and technology in the early to mid-nineteenth century led to changes in the curriculum of America’s antebellum colleges.
