My name is Meade Fischer, and I've lived my entire life along California's magnificent coast. I started my explorations as a young surfer, then camper and hiker and then kayaker. Over the years I've experienced every part of the coast, most outdoor activities and every season. I've met many wonderful people who live and do business in just about every coastal town, and when I write about the coast, I'm writing about something I love.

When I worked as a teacher, my summers would involve long trips with tent, sleeping bag, surfboard, kayak and bike, often losing myself for weeks at a time.

I hope that some of the people who read my books will come to love this stretch of coast as much as I do.
