Jim Morgan has lived in Southern California since the age of two. He attended a parochial school through sixth grade, then Upland High School and Claremont High School. Upon graduating from high school, he attended Cal Poly Pomona for a little over a year, then Mt. SAC for another few months before being drafted into the US Army in 1967. In the Army he was trained as a radio operator and performed that function for the 57th Medical Detachment (Helicopter Ambulance) in Long Binh during the year and ten days that he was deployed in Vietnam (Call Sign: Long Binh Dustoff Control).

After discharge from the Army, he met and married his wife of fifty-plus years, Susan Miller. They have two children. Returning to the job market, he worked as a beer truck driver for four years while attending night school at Mt. SAC. In 1973 he was readmitted to Cal Poly Pomona and received a degree in Accounting in 1975. In 1977 he became a Certified Public Accountant after passing the CPA exam with honors on the first attempt. He worked as a self-employed CPA until his retirement in early 2021. He and his wife live in Alhambra, California in a house they have owned for more than thirty years. His favorite leisure time activities are baseball (yay Dodgers) and Poker. He drives a 2012 Crown Victoria.
